Great in person customer service. Instagram customer service does need work. They don't respond to DMs (in my case) but I see they respond to comments on posts. Their work speaks for itself. Check out their instagram (hydra bar). They specialize in natural hair (using their signature hydration method). Your hair on the first day is crunchy but is expected to look and feel better as the style gets older. I would have preferred more natural ingredients in their signature gel (curl former), but I guess for it to do what it's suppose to do (lock in moisture/water molecules) it has to have the ingredients it currently has, but I'm not a fan of it. You may have a different opinion. Natural hair is sometimes a trial and error process.They list the ingredients on their website (in the shop/store tab) and on Amazon. They use their signature hydra curl former on site and it can also be purchased on their website and Amazon. The store seems to be a black owned business :) and the owner is a curly hair woman. She's also on YouTube. The reviews (mixed) on Amazon are quite helpful if you base your decision making off of other people's experiences with a product. You can watch reviews on YouTube as well. The salon although small, is not cluttered, looks great, very clean and organized. They salon is conveniently located with ample parking (i went during the week). You can easily miss the salon as there is only signage on the door/window. They need something bigger outside. They go by appointment only, however, you can walk in set an appointment or book an appointment online. If you have to cancel an appointment, be nice and call 48 hrs in advance. The hydration specialist does encourage you to take the hydration class, but it is expensive ( Over $100). The exact price is on their website. They provide a breakdown of services and prices for each service on their website as well. They don't force you to take the class but emphasize the benefits. If you are completely new to taking care of your natural hair after it is styled during the week, and you can afford it, then do it, but if you've had natural hair for over a number of yrs, you know your hair and can navigate YouTube, you can watch other women use their product and see the unbiased results after use. The owner also has a video of how she uses the curl former which is VERY helpful. Their stylist is really nice, she listens and she's patient. If you have very thin hair and want a hairstyle that has volume, be realistic. Walk with several pics (front, side, back) of what you want (cut, dye, trim, etc) and discuss your concerns with the stylist before you start service. No hidden fees, they are upfront with their process and prices and you can get a breakdown depending on what you'd like prior to booking....more
